We have daily organized play sessions for annual paid members (we use the Pickleheads app). Simply sign up for a session & join other players. Our app lets you see how many players are signed up & chat with one another before you go.
Check the session descriptions on the app for age and skill levels - some restrictions apply:
8 am to 10 am - 7 days a week, open play for 22 players on all 4 courts
10 am to 12 pm - 7 days a week, open play for 12 players on 2 courts
4 pm to 6 pm - Sun to Thu, open play for 12 players on 2 courts
6 pm to 8 pm - Sun to Thu, open play for 12 players on 2 courts
Annual members are welcome to use the courts during free community member time as well - drop in for open play.
The following times are available to book a private court. This is ideal for players who want to drill, practice with specific people, or organize a session by skill level. One member reserves the court, but everyone playing must be annual paid members at our club.
10 am to 12 pm - 7 days a week, 2 courts available to be reserved
4 pm to 6 pm - Sun to Thu, 2 courts available to be reserved
6 pm to 8 pm - Sun to Thu, 2 courts available to be reserved
During these times, Courts 1a and 1b are dedicated to our open play session, and Courts 2a and 2b (on the woods side) can be reserved privately. Note - tennis players will reserve both 2a and 2b to play tennis.
How to Book
Bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance.
Organized play sessions - reserve your spot; sessions with 2 courts will have 12 spots, sessions with 4 courts will have 22 spots.
Reserve a court – one annual paid member books the court & can invite other annual paid members of their choice. Everyone playing during reserved court time must be an annual paid member.
Remove your name from sessions that you can no longer attend so that players on the waitlist can join
What if I want to bring a guest who is visiting with me from out of town?
If your guest is going to be visiting for any amount of time, we recommend they sign up for our annual membership (best value, and their donation helps to maintain our programs and the courts).
If you would like your guest to join you during peak reserved court times for a few games, please eTransfer a $5 drop-in fee per session to porterslakecourts@gmail.com. Put the name of the person in the notes and the date they are playing. We will reserve a "guest" spot in the session for them.
Or, simply have your guest fill out the free community membership form and join you during open community play times.
All organized sessions are rotational play (reserve your spot on the Pickleheads app):
4 players to a court.
As players arrive, they go at the end of the line (on the benches) if all courts are already in use.
Standard PB scoring, serve to get a pt.
Server calls the score.
Games go to 9 (win by 1) if players are waiting, 11 (win by 2) if not.
Players rotate into games in order. If you have already played with someone, aim to switch partners for the next game.
Ensure fair play and be considerate of all play levels (sign up for sessions that match your play level).
Put nets in the storage bin after play (if no one else is waiting); especially at the end of the day.
First come basis.
Courts can be used for 45 minutes at a time (if players are waiting).
Courts can be used for pickleball or tennis. Standard set-up is pickleball on Court 1a & 1b, and tennis on Court 2. Players are responsible for switching out the nets as needed.
If someone is waiting for a tennis court when 4 courts are being used for PB, players from 1a and 1b OR 2a and 2b will both need to finish their 45 min playtime before the entire court is changed over to tennis. Please work together to make this is fair as possible for everyone playing and waiting.
Ensure fair play and be considerate of all play levels.
Put pickleball nets back in the storage bin after play (if no one else is waiting); especially at the end of the day.
