Our courts are not funded by HRM. Your $50 membership goes into a court maintenance fund that allows the Porters Lake Community Services Association (PLCSA) to keep our beautiful courts in top shape for years to come.
In return, members get to book dedicated court time during peak hours. No more guessing if the court will be available when you get there!
Court #2 (the court furthest from the gate on the woods side) can be reserved for tennis during peak member hours.
To book this court, use the Pickleheads app. Tennis players may be new to this app, but since most bookings at our facility are for pickleball, it is the platform we use for all court reservations.
In the app, you will see Court 2a and Court 2b listed separately. Because two pickleball courts equal one full tennis court, you must reserve both Court 2a and Court 2b to book the entire tennis court.
Annual paid members are also welcome to use the courts during Free Community open play on a first come, first served basis.
Courts can be booked in 2 hour blocks during peak member hours:
Sun to Thu - 10 am to 12 pm, 4 pm to 6 pm, 6 pm to 8 pm
Fri & Sat - 10 am to 12 pm
Free Community Hours - First come basis
Sun to Thu - 12 pm to 4 pm
Sat & Sun - 12 pm to 8 pm
We are looking for volunteers to coordinate Learn to Play tennis sessions one evening a month from May to August.
We currently offer a similar program for pickleball on the first Tuesday evening of each month, where experienced players teach new players the basics. It is a lot of fun and a great way to build the community. We would love to see the same thing happening for tennis.
You do not need to be a certified coach. You just need to be comfortable sharing the basic skills and helping new players get started.
Send an email to porterslakecourts@gmail.com.
Paid members will be able to book a tennis court up to 7 days in advance during peak morning and evening hours. Know the court is yours before you go! We use the Pickleheads app to book - annual paid members will be able to see the available court times.
Reserve a court – one annual paid member books the court & can invite other annual paid members of their choice. Everyone playing during reserved hours MUST be an annual paid member.
In the app, you will see Court 2a and Court 2b listed separately. Because two pickleball courts equal one full tennis court, you must reserve both Court 2a and Court 2b to book the entire tennis court.
We ask members to limit pre-booking to 3 spots a week to make it fair for everyone. After that, feel free to book additional court time if you see it is still available the day before/same day.
Court 2 (furthest from the community centre on the woods side) is for tennis. The net will be there at all times; pickleball players will set up and tear down the portable nets when that court is being used for pickleball.
Annual paid members are welcome to use the courts during free community hours if you have guests with you (peak hours are reserved for annual members only).
First come basis.
Courts can be used for 45 minutes at a time (if players are waiting).
Courts can be used for pickleball or tennis. Standard set-up is pickleball on Court 1a & 1b, and tennis on Court 2. Players are responsible for switching out the nets as needed.
If someone is waiting for a tennis court when 4 courts are being used for PB, players from 1a and 1b OR 2a and 2b will both need to finish their 45 min playtime before the entire court is changed over to tennis. Please work together to make this is fair as possible for everyone playing and waiting.
Ensure fair play and be considerate of all play levels.
Put pickleball nets back in the storage bin after play (if no one else is waiting); especially at the end of the day.
